Committed to removing barriers to an advanced education, elect Kristen Randall for Pima Community College Governing Board
By removing barriers to higher education such as providing on-site childcare, affordable tuition rates, and assistance seeking financial aid, Pima Community College can strengthen the workforce, support families, and grow our community.

The PCC Governing Board is made up of five non-partisan elected members, with districts that match the Pima County Supervisory Districts. A governing board member helps oversee the college's operation and direction through policy development, formation of a strategic plan, selection and collaboration with the college chancellor, community outreach and engagement, and budget approval. Your elected governing board member matters!
I know how important a community college experience can be to a family. As a single mom, I was able to attend community college and attain financial security for my family. I eventually transferred to a university where I earned my bachelors degree in Environmental Science. I know how barriers to an education can make the journey to graduation more challenging, and I believe PCC can help students overcome many of these barriers so they can achieve their dreams.
Electing me means you will have someone on the board who is committed to keeping tuition and property taxes low, and who has experienced the life-changing gift of a college education. I am committed to ensuring all stakeholders, students, faculty and staff, and the larger community can have a representative who listens to them and works hard to keep Pima Community College a community asset.
PCC is already an amazing institution with staff and faculty who work hard to bring a meaningful experience to students. To bring PCC to the next level, here are a few of my priorities:
1. After the recession, the state withdrew funding for community colleges. Although smaller colleges have seen this funding source returned, Pima and Maricopa colleges have not. This has left an estimated $20 million a year off the table for PCC. It would be one of my highest priorities to build a coalition to regain this money to fund programs, keep tuition low, take care of our faculty and staff, and ensure infrastructure needs are met.
2. Although enrollment continues to increase slightly, COVID hit enrollment hard. Changes in workforce and student needs, the realities of a post-pandemic learning environment, and economic factors means we should go back to the drawing board. A new Strategic Enrollment Management Plan should be drafted with the new chancellor to learn more about how PCC can adapt to the shifting educational landscape.
3. PCC should invest in expanded services to help students overcome barriers. Our community has varied resources for almost all needs, but it can be confusing to try and find help for a specific situation. Navigators could help guide students or prospective students to these resources so there are fewer challenges on their pathway to graduation. Some of these resources could be for housing, childcare, transportation, health-related needs, or anything else that can get in the way of achieving an education.
4. Both the workforce and transfer tracks can be revitalized to meet the needs of a changing future. Stackable credentials allow professionals who are already in their chosen fields to learn new skills using cutting edge technology.
